Open Heart Horsemanship

Let the horse be your compass and intuition be your guide

Youth Horsemanship

Open Heart Horsemanship’s Youth Horsemanship program was born as a result of Kathryn’s years of experience and training as a children’s entertainer and educator, coupled with her passion for creating a learning environment for young equestrians that goes beyond the average riding lesson or horse camp experience. In Youth Horsemanship sessions, students are empowered to develop and strengthen their senses of empathy, autonomy, intuition, critical and creative thinking, emotional regulation, and team work. Students in this program experience all areas of horsemanship, including daily care, grooming, anatomy, groundwork, equine psychology, and riding. The primary focus throughout the program is always building and honoring their unique connection with the horse, and thus all students begin on the ground. This allows both horse and rider to feel the utmost sense of mutual trust, preparedness, and of course have the greatest amount of fun upon beginning the journey of riding. The Youth Horsemanship program is available to students age 11 and up, with younger children considered on a case by case basis. Please reach out directly for information regarding partnership opportunities for Charter, Waldorf, and Homeschool programs.
